US deputies ask Maia to block land tenure bill

The current administration's plans for the Amazon Forest clearly are not coherent with a sustainable plan of action. 99% of Brazilian deforestation in 2019 was illegal and this year, deforestation is increasing, while the fear of large fires also grows.

In order to join forces with the Indigenous Movement in Brazil, Representatives from the United States sent a letter to the Brazilian Congress expressing their concerns and asking Speaker Rodrigo Maia to firmly oppose the "land grabbing law" #PL2633NAO.

We would like to thank Representatives Deb Haaland, Raul Grijalva, Susan Wild, James P. McGovern, Rashida Tlaib, Barbara Lee, Ilhan Omar, Alan Lowenthal, Mark Pocan, Jamie Raskin, Ro Khanna, Frank Pallone Jr., Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, Peter A. DeFazio, Grace L. Napolitano, Adriano Espaillat, Jamie Huffman and Stephen F. Lynchs for being part of this international effort to defend the Amazon and its original peoples.
